Author and food activist Michael Pollan has lamented that the Food Network and cooking shows have "transformed cooking from something you do into something you watch." Maybe we're finding celebrity chefs' ease and comfort in the kitchen, their quick chopping skills, and their ability to tell when something is cooked to perfection a bit overwhelming.
