Among iOS 8's many new features are some cool ways to let you interact with your apps without actually having to open them. Interactive notifications are one example, and another is the brand-new widgets available in Notification Center. Apple is a little late to this game—Android has had widgets for years, and users can put them right on their home screens—but at least what we have is both elegant and functional....

Developers have only started to roll out iOS 8-optimized updates, but here's a first look at that are putting the new software to great use.

Sunnycomb, the app that tries to predict how each day's weather will make you feel, is now available on Android. Though there are already plenty of well-known weather apps on the market, including popular ones from Yahoo and the Weather Channel, Sunnycomb benefits from its connection to Weathernews Inc (WIN), one of Japan's top weather apps with over 20 million downloads.

Instagram is now optimized for iOS 7. Version 4.2 of the app launched in the App Store on Wednesday, and it's designed specifically for the newest version of Apple’s mobile operating system. Photos in your feed are larger, and both the photos and videos are displayed at an increased resolution.

While developers updated tried-and-true apps that let users listen to music, read and browse the Internet to coincide with the release of iOS 7, a brand new app from an established site helps users do something rather unusual on the iPhone -- buy art. Artsy, a website that features more than 50,000 works for users to browse and buy, launched its first app, which is designed for iOS 7, on Wednesday.
