Как известно, Apple уже долгое время очень много внимания уделяет образовательным программам на своих устройствах. Это была одна из главных идей основателя компании Стива Джобса. Специально для образовательных целей в iTunes выделен специальный магазин  iTunes U, в котором можно найти лекции, семинары, уроки иностранных языков от ведущих университетов мира. Причем все материалы в  iTunes U совершенно бесплатны не только для студентов, но и для всех любознательных людей.

Несмотря реализованную поддержку iTunes Store, App Store и Apple Store Online, до сих пор Россия не входит в список стран с поддержкой iBookstore. Тем не менее, сегодня Apple открыла доступ к iTunes U для жителей России. Инструментарий iTunes U делает возможным представителям ведущих изданий и даже простым учителям выпускать специальные подкасты, а также создавать учебники. К сожалению, поддержка последних до сих пор отсутствует в случае с Россией.

В России действуют три из четырёх сетевых магазинов Apple – iTunes Store, Online Store, Apple Store – но не iBookstore. До сих пор у купертиновцев не наладились продажи книг в нашей стране.
