Google has revamped its Wallet app on the iPhone. The new iOS app will now support peer-to-peer payments, making it "easy to send money to anyone in the US with an email address," according to Google. The Android version of the app got similar features earlier this month, repositioning Google Wallet as a competitor to services like Square Cash and Venmo....

Earlier this month, Google launched Android Pay in a move that turned the company’s existing Wallet app into a peer-to-peer payments service. That new app went live on Android when the new pay service launched on September 10, now today it has landed on iOS, too.

Google Wallet has long let you store physical loyalty cards inside its app, but having to type in a long series of numbers likely discouraged people from adding them. An update that rolled out on iOS today (and on Android last week) uses your smartphone's camera to take a picture of the barcode and then adds the loyalty card to your digital wallet. Good news, Google Wallet users — you can now access your account on your iOS device with an official Google Wallet app. You can use it to make payments to friends, track your loyalty cards, and access nearby offers. One feature you won’t find, however, is tap-to-pay, which relies on NFC connectivity.
