The company's first Apple Watch entry isn't all that great.

Google releases first app for Apple Watch, but it's a little different from the iOS version of the app.

Google on Tuesday added Apple Watch compatibility to its News & Weather iOS app, the first of what is expected to be many updates to its suite of iOS titles designed to grab screen real estate on Apple's new wearable device.

Google has started to update its apps for the Apple Watch, and the first one to get the treatment is News & Weather. Yes, it seems we'll have to wait a bit longer for favorites like Gmail (or Inbox), Search, Calendar, Hangouts, and Google+. But News & Weather is a decent fit for Apple's smartwatch.
